Do You Need a Website Backup?

The answer to that question is “it depends”. If you are a current Intellimarq website customer, your website is already backed up and safe. Our hosting service is extremely reliable and has redundant servers. In addition to that, we perform regular backups automatically and maintain multiple copies of several revisions of your site in multiple storage locations.

If your website was built by another company, you’ll have to check your agreement to see if they or your host provide backups. If it is not specifically stated, they probably don’t do backups for you. If you are comfortable with web technology like FTP, HTML, and SQL databases and you have admin access to your host, you can perform your own backups. This may be a good time to do that if you haven’t done it in a while.

If you don’t know even how to check or perform your own backups, we’re more than happy to help you figure it out. If you’d like a free website consultation, please contact us at our Bay City or Midland office, and we’ll advise you on the state of your website.

Fortunately, most hosts use redundant servers and other technologies that make the need for a backup copy of your website unlikely. However, much like other disasters like fire or flooding, you want to have a plan in place just in case the unlikely happens.
